SITA South Gloucestershire
Our surfing club has been active since February 2004 and we already have a good number of members (see the stats on the left). The aim of the club is to promote the sport, the ocean and the environment.

For most of us city-dwellers, it's easy to feel out of touch with what's going on. Most surfing clubs are situated on the coast and keeping in touch is hard. This club is an opportunity to meet fellow surfers living in your own backyard.

If you want to get involved, please join. Membership is £10.50 (online) or £10.00 (cash/cheque), which allows us to cover most of the running costs.
Thursday Club Gatherings - From 8pm at the Pump House
We have a weekly gathering at the Pump House where we all catch up, share a few drinks and make plans for the forthcoming weekend.

This is a really informal, laid back event and everyone is welcome, so if you're interested in joining the club please come along and say hello.

Typically we are in the raised area on the ground floor of the pub, you can't miss us.

See you there.

BSC Newsletter. 25th August.
Time for another dose of news from the weekly news letter which seems to have become a monthly news letter lately.(Sorry folks).

News
Firstly, thanks go to Steve Harding for picking up the job of treasurer. Steve will be taking over from Patsy as acting treasurer until the next AGM in the new year.

We are still seeking a volunteer (or volunteers) for the position of membership secretary. This basically involves keeping the membership list, collecting subs and issuing cards. If you’re a lists kind of person then get in touch with Pete or email enquiries@bristol-surf-club.co.uk We could use your help!

One of the hot topics at the last committee meeting was club tops. Pete and Shaun are gathering quotes at the moment so the race is on to get things sorted before half the club decamps to France for September. We’ll send an update as soon as the numbers are crunched.

Finally, several people expressed an interest in attending the NBLQ lifeguard course so we’re looking at potential funding to offset some or all of the cost. Still early days on this and it may not happen until next year but we’ll keep you informed.

Events
British Longboard Club Championships. Scarborough. Sept 20th/21st. Pete says there are still places if you’re a log rider and you want to surf some contest heats + all members are welcome to come along to support, have a surf and enjoy the party on Saturday night.

Beginners weekend. Bude. October 4th/6th. The third and final beginners weekend for the year with Raven surf school.

Comedy night. October 17th. Sim is starting to organise a social night in Bristol. He’s asked for a show of hands so he knows how many places to book so check the forum and reserve your place.

Newquay weekender. November 14th/16th. A repeat of last years pilgrimage and the official start to the winter season. We’ll be staying in Sims mates hostel so no camping - the beer and hot water are both on tap!

The weekly meetings at the pumphouse continue from 8pm each Thursday. If the weather is nice we've been sitting out front on the benches and we've missed a few new starters so in future, if we're not in our usual spot we'll let the bar know. See you there.
BSC Newsletter. 29th July.
The news letter has been a bit slack lately so we've got tons of stuff to get through this week.

News
Firstly, you may have seen Pete's post on the forum regarding committee positions. We're looking for volunteers for Treasurer, Membership Secretary and the PR/Marketing role. If you're vaguely organised and you can spare a few hours each month for the club then please get in touch – your assistance would be most welcome.

Next up, we are pleased to welcome Loose Fit as official 'friends of BSC'. Club members now get 10% discount and they usually have other offers going on so if you mention BSC you're going to be looked after.

Grab a bargain
Martin has put his 9'4 Escape long board up for sale. This is a great deal for anyone looking to get into mal riding. Check the forum for photos and contact details.

Events
August 2nd/3rd (this weekend): Gwithian weekend. Only a few days to go and it looks like there will be waves so it's definitely worth the trip.

Sunday 10th August: Loose Fit film night number 4 at the Black Bear. Check the Loose Fit site for full details.

16th or 17th August: Club day trip. This is an open invitation for members of all abilities to come along and share some waves. Details are still light at this stage but Bude or Saunton are the proposed venues.

20th/21st Sept: British Interclub Longboarding Chapionship, Scarborough. We've got one squad of six confirmed already. If you're interested then let Pete know ASAP.

4th & 5th October: The last beginners weekend of the year. Bude.
