| BSC Newsletter. 11th March | |
| As promised we have a guest editor this week. Your humble chairman has stepped up so prepare to receive the wisdom of Wilkins...
Good day ladies and gentlemen. Well this is a rare venture in applying my limited creative abilities to the generation of this fine weekly journal, but what the hell....here goes. Last weekend wasn't a classic, but i'm glad to see that the Bristol spirit of getting out in all conditions is live and well. Also I took great personal pleasure to see so many drunken BSC faces at Sims Birthday bash on the evening. This weekend see's our first, mass trip down to the home of the one mile close out (only kidding, guys and girls. I love the bay as much as the next man).... yep you've got it! its NEWQUAY time. I hope you have all booked your places at Belushi's, which has got to be by now, our home away from home. This weekend trip doesn't just offer all the normal joys that Newquay got to offer. We don't just give you reasonably priced booze (a welcome relief, for all you clifton residence) and and a atmosphere of dubious moral sensibilities, but for your surfing delights the team have pulled together a whole raft of Cornish treats. These treats include as arranged by the Dryd, a shaping and board forum hosted by the fantastic people at Tunnel Vision. So if you ever wondered, what is the difference between a pin and a fish tail, egg or down rail, this is the event for you. Maybe you will be able to reappraise what kind of board takes your fancy! Another slice of lemon to be placed next to the pie with pride, is surf coaching provided by our mate Andy at the BSA. At the moment the conditions are looking a bit iffy for Saturday, but our man Dave P is on the case and will post full details on Thursday. It doesn't stop there.....Other events on the horizon are: Surf Comp Hotdoggers League #1 on the weekend of the 28th & 29th March at Saunton, I might be tempted to give it a go. It would be great practise for the Inter club face off. Beach Clean The Wavehouse and Simple Shoes have teamed up, with the help of The National Trust and NCDC Beach Rangers and in association with The Beach Clean Network, The Old Smithy and Sharps Brewery (phew) to do a big ol' Beach Clean at Sandymouth Beach on Sunday 26th April, meeting at 11.30am sharp. The NCDC Beach Rangers will be on hand to help out, and all entrants will be entered into a FREE RAFFLE, with several chances to win a pair of Simple Shoes. Sandymouth Cafe will be open for hot drinks and food. Families are very much encouraged! Now for something completely different!
Celebrating the best of Bristol Street Art 50 of the most notorious and talented Graffiti and Street Artists have invaded the RWA galleries for six weeks - Wild Styles, Installations, Inflatable's... EXHIBITION - ON FOR SIX WEEKS! at Royal West of England Academy, Queens Rd. From the 21st March to the 2nd May Artists include Nick Walker, Sickboy, Mr Jago, Mudwig, Xenz, FLX, Cyclops, Inkie... to name but a few. Lots of great stuff for everyone's tastes. Don't miss it!!! This week i'm introducing a new feature..... Surfer of the week! This weeks surfer is Bonga (aka Gregory) Perkins, the 1996 and 2008 world long boarding champion
Whilst i'm at is I'll add Song of the week, which for some 70's nostalgia is Mr Blue Skys, by ELO (yep, its a bit random). So their it goes, my first attempt at a news letter....Hmmm could be my last. Next week there will be someone different. Have a great weekend. Pete
So there you have it folks. Next week we have an update from our enigmatic communications officer, 'dryd Kail.
