BSC Newsletter. 18th March
Yo yo yo yo yo peeps,

I hope you're all cool! Well, this is the second instalment of your 'non-DaveP Bristol Surf Club newsletter'! I've heard that some members enjoyed Pete's ramblings so I will try to continue in the same vain.

The club made a jaunt to Newquay last weekend. Reliable reports tell me that Saturdays waves were so/so but fun was had and that Sunday was a beauty, with clean waves in the 3 to 4ft size and early spring sunshine. Sounds great! I was unfortunately unable to attend in the frolicks so this is all second hand info. From other reports in, it sounds like you guys down in Cornwall scored the best waves last weekend as reports from West Wales were poor and North Devon looked a bit on the 'fun but small' side.

I haven't heard back from anyone about the video coaching. I'm presuming there are some hideous videos lurking somewhere?! What I did hear about was the 'shapers session' presented by Andy Reed at the infamous Tunnel Vision shop. Andy talked shapes for 2 1/2 hours and by the sounds of it awed everyone with his intimate knowledge of surfboard shaping. Thanks Andy.

This weekends surf forecast
Without looking too closely and trusting the magic stars it looks like a mini mini wave could be logged on a massive 12ft longboard. Otherwise I reckon I might get my marigolds on and go a good old spring clean round the house, dig out the rusting bbq and get ready for a summer of good weather, good waves and good times... am I jumping the gun a bit?!

Featured surfer of the week: Jeff Hackman aka Mr Sunset.
The first Pipeline Masters was won by Jeff in 1971. In 1976 Jeff started Quiksilver USA in Newport Beach selling boardshorts out of the back of a green VW bus. By 17 he had won the world's most prestigious surfing title and been anointed the king of big wave riders by Duke Kahanamoku. At 21 he was the most successful professional surfer the world had ever seen, and at 30 he was one of the surfings first millionaires. In between all of this he lost everything to drug addiction but recovered with full force. He is an awesome story of coming back from the brink and taking life by the scruff of the neck!

See you down the boozer on 'fursday, awight gov'.
