| It’s my turn, they say... (Yes we do.)
Membership I did a quick headcount at the Pump House when we last met on Thursday. I counted 30ish us there – that’s almost a third of the entire membership – a really strong turn out. It was great to see so many of you there. I’ve still got a lot of membership cards to dish out. I have your details, but I don’t necessarily know what you look like. If you want yours then grab me at the Pump House, or send a quick e-mail to bristolsurfclubmembership@googlemail.com to request that I post it to you.
Easter This weekend coming is Easter. Chocolate! Eggs! Bunnies! Yay!

Easter is a time when we reflect and contemplate….. going surfing for a long weekend! There’s quite a crowd from BSC descending on Barbara at Churchtown Farm campsite in Gwithian near St. Ives. There’s bound still to be pitches available on the campsite if you want to join us last minute. Sandsifter may be open for the weekend, but if it is we won’t be heading there, we won’t be drinking cocktails and we won’t be dancing badly. We haven’t before and there’s no reason to do so this weekend either. ;o)
Check out the forum at http://tinyurl.com/d9mk9x for more details.
DVD Library Having ironed out a few sticking points we have decided to go ahead with the DVD library. Ric will kindly be managing it, details to follow.
Surfing Tip of the Week If you get stuck in a rip don't leave your board: it's your life preserver. Paddle horizontal to the beach to get out of the strong current and come in on the whitewater. Don't try to paddle directly against a rip.
Randomness of the Week MSW not accurate enough to help you make your weekend plans? Ten more ways to predict the surf….
• Alectryomancy – by seeing which grains of corn a cock eats. • Aleuromancy – by means of meal or flour. • Bibliomancy – picking words from books, or verses from the Bible. • Cartomancy – using playing cards. • Cheiromancy – palmistry. • Cromniomancy – by planting onions and see which sprouts first. • Gastromancy – by sounds emanating from the stomach. • Oneiromancy – divination from dreams. • Ornithomancy – from bird flight or cries. • Pyromancy – from fire.
The 3rd, 5th and 9th grains of barley have been selected and eaten, meaning 5ft peeling waves, off-shore breezes, warm water... the cock just won’t tell me where! (I’ll wring its bloody neck.)
Until next time.
Stu.
