SAS at Howies
Tuesday night Bristol played host to a visit from Andy Cummins from Surfers against sewage (SAS). Andy provided a really enjoyable and informative presentation about the risks of climate change, sewage, toxic pollution and how to make a change. The most enjoyable part was recounting of campaign successes, especially the one about the Bodyshop :-) If you take your surfing seriously, I would seriously recommend that you become a member of the SAS and better still if you ever get the opportunity go to one of there talks.

On the subject of SAS talks, we made contact with the leaders of both UWE & Bristol University surf clubs. Both of these clubs are very interested in pulling resources to invite SAS back to Bristol. Also both the university clubs were right up for the Bristol Open Fun comp, especially as a basis of fund raising for good courses.

I also want to thanks Howies for arranging and hosting the talk. What this space for more Howies related activities.

"Ode A La Saucisse" by French Bird
It was the hottest week-end of the year,
And Bristol Surf Club, all packed up, boot full of "Biere"
Travelled down to Pembrokeshire, hoping for good waves,
And with a bit of luck, 1 or 2 good rave.

The journey down was rather memorable,
5 hours later, some wished they'd gone to Barnstaple!
Better late than never, through country roads some may call a bit dodge,
We all got there, apart from Helen who preferred the Travelodge!

Saturday morning we sent Ben on a mission
To find waves during breakfast preparation.
Some emerged later than others,
And as punishment were sent to investigate the cross-eyed sisters...

Our blue T4 crew gave up on the lack of waves,
Whilst the rest of us persisted, probably still in a "reve".
We rode hours on end on 3 foot tall at least,
Till it was time to come home for our feast.

After a fantastic dinner al fresco
Most were en route for St David's Rugby Disco.
As far as I know everyone behaved,
Although a few wish some parts of the night were erased...

Sunday Morning brought us fantastic sun,
So we all joined Tamsin for some Yoga Fun.
But a good detox is only a great excuse to re-tox your brain
So after yoga we all had a beer, courtesy of our lovely Owain.

Well, a few had already followed our chairman to the beach
I know I would have, if I realized he was gonna teach!
Resisting the temptation of yet more beers,
We headed to Newgale quickly, in fear of looking queer.

Riding our way on waves close to 4 foot,
French Bird somehow got back to her root,
Thanks to BSC's very own French Casanova,
Who truly is, more stubborn than "moi"!

2 hours of fun had to come to an end,
After all, we all had a barbecue to attend.
Some of us had already ran out of vino,
So we had to stop for more in Texaco.

Back to the campsite, 6 barbecues on the go,
Where on earth did "Sally has a rock" go?
As usual, Silly Face turned up fashionably late,
So when she did, we started our little "fete"...

This turned out to be the best sausage party
anyone of us attended, and many will envy...
Hours of laughter followed, mostly due to an accidental
Comment on one's terrible bikini line!

It was heard that BSC had so much fun,
Some of us can no longer feel their stomach bun!
I could carry on for much longer
But I have a deadline, given by Peter

Finally, that one is for you "Daddy-ble"
The French Lady's not uncontrollable.
Some of us don't quite know how to take it
Just remember that our French Bird, truly is, a Free Spirit...

Ha ha ha ha, Boom Boom!!!!!!!!!

There you have it. Mental. I imagine much of this would make sense if I had been there but it sounds like plenty of fun was had. I particularly enjoyed the ‘memorable’/’Barnstaple’ rhyme. Audacious stuff.

Finally, a few quick dates.
Pete posed about a screening of Waveriders at the watershed this Saturday the 6th June. Also, Simon's planning another film night in the sprawling grounds of his Hanham estate for Friday 19th June. Then the weekend after (26th-28th) it's the Bude weekend. Check the forum for full details.

That’s your lot so until next time - à bientôt my eeengleesh chums.
