BSC Newsletter. 4th November
UPDATE. 16th Nov 09.
Howard has been in touch to say that the SAS visit is part of a day of surf related activity at Howies courtesy of Drift Magazine on Saturday the 21st. Click here for the full skinny.

Hi folks. October was crazy busy - so busy we didn't manage a single news letter! (My bad.) So, this week we've got a quick recap of what's been going on and news of a few more events in the pipeline.

First up we had the another fun comp with the Woolacombe longboarders at Coombesgate. It's fair to say the home side killed it but they had some serious hitters in the squad and Bristol definitely gave them a match. Andy Deacon and Pete both came away with good results and everyone seemed to enjoy the day.

Then a week later we had another trip to Widemouth near Bude. Raven surf school layed on a beginners lesson and an intermediate coaching session which were both popular.

Then the week after that there was another coaching trip. This time is was an advanced session with the guys at SurfsUp in Polzeath. Reports came back of some good techinical progress, fun and games on Saturday night and classic Harlyn waves on the Sunday.

On top of all that, half the club have since buggered off to Portugal. Something about sunshine, hollow surf and a Ripcurl something-or-other. Don't understand it myself...

So that's what you missed. This is what's coming up.

The autumn Newquay weekender is happening next weekend - the 14th/15th November. We've got about 20 bodies so far and Sim has posted to say Belushi's has had a cancellation so there are still beds available if anyone else fancies it. It's £20 for 2 nights B&B (£30 for non-members). I think this Thursday will be your last chance so get down the pub and bring your pocket money.

Then the following Saturday(21st November) S.A.S. will be holding a talk at the Howies shop on Clifton Triangle. I've not had much detail on this one but Andy Cummins' last talk was highly recommended so stick the date in your diary and we'll let you know when we know what's happening.

Then on Friday December 11th we've got the Christmas Party at The Firehouse Rotisserie. It's £25 per head but we've got some surplus funds so I expect the club will kick in some cash to cover some of the bill. More news on that after the next committee gathering. Deposits to Steve ASAP - places are limited.

Finally, the AGM is coming up in January. We're aiming for the same set-up as last year with a provisional date of Thursday Jan 21st. As always, anyone who's interested in getting involved in some of the organisation is welcome to put their names forward. All the positions need to be filled and it's also your chance to have your say about how things have gone in 2009 and what you want to happen in 2010.

See y'all tomorrow night at the Pumphouse.
